The Langdale Pikes taken from Side pike in the Lake District National Park, Cumbria, United Kingdom.

This photograph is the result of about two years work, after numerous visits to the location failed to yield the results that I wanted. On this particular morning I was filming the event as it unfolded for my YouTube channel, so you will be able to see what I was up against at the time. I had failed to realise on this occasion just how long it would take me to get into position, due to the added weight I was carrying compared to my last visit. The medium format kit that this photograph was taken with, including bag and tripod weighs in at a hefty 18kg, so when I was racing up the hill to catch the pre-dawn light, I allowed no time for the breaks I would need in order to catch my breath. At risk of heart failure, I pressed on and managed to make the position with only seconds to spare, but my suffering paid off with this lovely 65ing long pin sharp panoramic scene.
