The workshop starts with a morning session at the stunning Blea Tarn high up in the southern fells affording views across to the Langdale Pikes. Here we will spend time exploring the shoreline, problem solving by seeking out clean compositions among the many boulders that litter the water’s edge. The Pikes are often bathed in glorious morning light at this time of year and so it’s one of the best places to start the day. From there we head to the River Brathay to shoot the ancient wooded watercourse culminating at a stunning weir and views across Grasmere Lake. After lunch we head to Tarn Hows where we will spend the rest of the day photographing areas around the lakeside and with a bit of luck, some stunning reflections. The day will culminate with a dusk shoot, where you can put into practice all that you have learned whilst capturing the glorious last light (Conditions permitting).
Most landscape photographers love their filters and their use can often mean the difference between a good photo and a great one. My personal choice of filters are Kase filters and if you don’t have your own on the day, or are considering purchasing some, I can provide you with filters for you to try. The main filters used today are; neutral density graduated filters to balance exposure, polarisers to remove reflected light and saturate colours and stoppers to slow shutter speeds and create magical blur. I have a full range of these. As a Kase filter pro-partner, you can also purchase these via the shop link.
